Profile of Bishop Mark Smith

 Bishop Mark Smith accepted Christ at the age of 17, and after finishing high school. Due to his newly found passion for Christ, and desire to help children in the community, he became the Youth Pastor of the Holy Temple Church in Silsbee, Texas, at which he began his ministerial journey. Many youth were led to Christ under his ministry. Bishop Smith served as a Youth Pastor for several years until the passing of his father in August of 2000. With the church being bequeathed to Bishop Mark Smith, he took the role of pastor. Under his leadership, the church grew and expanded. Bishop Mark Smith also to leadership in the community working as a community activist and mentor for youth, keeping them off drugs, out of gangs and other negative opportunities. he encouraged and facilitated programs to ensure that children transitioned from high school to community colleges, giving them better hope for a promising future. Bishop Smith's continued desire to help better the future and lives of children led him to the founding of the Youth Young Adult Fellowship Alliance in December of 1988. in March of 1999 under Bishop Smith's leadership, a  35,000 square foot community center was constructured in Silsbee, Texas allowing children in the community a safe haven for after school, summer, and other idle hours. A second location was constructed in Beaumont, Texas in 2012. Both youth centers serve hundreds of children and their families, throughout the Southeast Texas area annually. Bishop Mark Smith's hard cutting work won the Praise of President Clinton and Performing at the White House. Bishop Smith has served the community faithfully for 40 years, and continues to make a difference in the lives of all he comes into contact with.
